L.O.L is an abbriviation for laughing out loud and a common element in internet slang.

It is one of many initialisms for expressing bodily reactions as text, including more emphatic expressions such as

L.M.A.O., laughing my ass off, and R.O.F.L., rolling on floor laughing. Other expansions include the now mostly historical
